Tambor Carioca was created by Sérgio Conforti and started its activities in January 2005. An exclusive method was developed to teach percussion to different students’ levels. The group by the way is recording its first CD and presenting the show TODAS AS CORES (All the colors). Once a month Tambor Carioca promotes an open air free class in one of the most beautiful areas in Rio, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

Tambor plays and teaches whole Brazilian rhythms like samba, marchinha, baião, xote, galope, xaxado, maracatu, ciranda, carimbó and ijexá among others using only typical carioca’s carnival instruments like tamborim, pandeiro (tamborine), caixa (snare drum) , repique, surdo, ganzá (shake) and agogô.
